Indiana Bankers Association Honors Legacy of Former CEO Karen Miller
Greg Miller posthumously accepts Leaders in Banking Excellence Award, the Association’s Highest Honor on wife’s behalf.

FRANKFORT, INDIANA – The Farmers Bank proudly announces that a former President and Chief Executive Officer, Karen I. Miller, has been posthumously honored with the Leaders in Banking Excellence Award, the Indiana Bankers Association’s (IBA) highest individual distinction. The award was presented on Monday, September 8, 2025, during the IBA’s Annual Convention at the historic French Lick Springs Resort.

This prestigious award celebrates outstanding bankers who have left a lasting mark on the banking industry, community service, and civic life in Indiana. Karen Miller was not only a transformative leader at The Farmers Bank, but also the first female community bank CEO in the state of Indiana, paving the way for future generations of women in banking leadership.

Miller joined The Farmers Bank in 1995, serving as Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, and Executive Vice President before being named President and CEO in 2006 and serving in the role until her passing in 2015. Under her leadership, The Farmers Bank experienced significant growth and strengthened its commitment to providing exceptional customer service and supporting the communities it serves.

Beyond her work at The Farmers Bank, Miller was deeply involved in statewide and local initiatives. She was a 30-year member of the Indiana CPA Society, a Regional Director with the Indiana Bankers Association, and served in leadership roles with the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, Clinton County Partners in Progress, and the Clinton County Community Foundation.

During the ceremony, Indiana dignitaries, banking peers, and members of Miller’s family gathered as her husband, Greg Miller, accepted the award on her behalf. An ebony plaque etched with her portrait and biography will be displayed permanently at both the IBA headquarters in Indianapolis and at The Farmers Bank’s corporate office in Frankfort.

“Karen was a trailblazer, a mentor, and a friend to so many,” said Chris Cook, current President and CEO of The Farmers Bank. “She led with integrity and compassion, and her vision continues to guide our work today. We are so proud to see her legacy celebrated on such a grand stage.”

Honoring Karen’s Legacy
The Farmers Bank invites the community to join in honoring Miller’s remarkable career and contributions by visiting the commemorative display in the bank’s Frankfort headquarters beginning later this month.

For those who wish to extend her legacy, gifts may be made to The Farmers Bank Community Fund in Memory of Karen Miller, established at the time of her passing through the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton, and Carroll Counties.

These contributions will continue Karen’s lifelong passion for education, leadership, and community development.
