FRANKFORT, INDIANA – On Tuesday, July 15, The Farmers Bank proudly hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its downtown Frankfort headquarters, celebrating the completion of the most significant investment and renovation in the bank’s 149-year history. The event drew a crowd of over 200 attendees, including community members, former and retired employees, local government officials, and civic leaders.

The ceremony began at 2:30 p.m. with a blessing from Shan Sheridan, Clinton County Chamber of Commerce CEO and Economic Development Executive Director, recognizing the bank’s deep roots in the community and its commitment to serving Frankfort and Clinton County for generations to come.

Frankfort Mayor Judith Sheets offered remarks, highlighting The Farmers Bank’s remarkable impact on the local community, particularly its long-standing support of charitable organizations, city initiatives, and local events. She praised the bank’s beautiful new façade and interior, noting the importance of such reinvestments in strengthening downtown Frankfort’s vitality. Mayor Sheets also commended the bank’s Board of Directors and leadership team for their unwavering commitment to the community.

Chris Cook, President and CEO of The Farmers Bank, thanked the crowd, acknowledging the presence of retirees, former staff, loyal customers, and shareholders. He emphasized that the headquarters renovation is the largest and most significant investment the bank has made in itself — a visible and lasting symbol of The Farmers Bank’s unwavering commitment to Frankfort and Clinton County.

“We made this investment — the largest in our history — because we believe in the future of Frankfort and Clinton County,” Cook shared. “Upgrading our headquarters wasn’t just about bricks and mortar. It’s about ensuring we have the people, spaces, and technology to meet the needs of today’s customers and tomorrow’s generations. We’re here to stay, to grow, and to continue serving as a pillar of this community.”

Cook also alluded to the bank’s upcoming milestone, noting that while today marked the celebration of 149 years, planning is already underway for its 150th anniversary in 2026. He expressed special gratitude to the bank’s customers, who remained loyal and patient throughout the past 18 months of construction and renovation disruptions — all undertaken to deliver an elevated, top-notch banking experience.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, a time-honored tradition in marking major milestones, symbolizes not only the opening of a newly renovated space but also a celebration of community partnership, local investment, and shared growth.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to tour several floors of the newly remodeled headquarters, where they enjoyed refreshments provided by local vendors – Angry Donkey, Shoups Country Foods, Slabbys, and Barb’s Cookies and experienced firsthand the upgraded spaces designed to better serve customers and staff.
